Mrs. Dash Salt Free Marinade is a Winner!

Okay, I will admit that I was skeptical when I saw Mrs. Dash had a salt-free marinade.  I have tried many sodium free products by other companies, and they generally are very boring and extremely bland.  Therefore, it was with great apprehension that I dropped over $2.50 each at the grocery store for a bottle Mrs. Dash Lime Garlic Marinade and Mrs. Dash Sweet Teriyaki Marinade.

Boy what I surprised.  It is delicious!  You can use this on beef, chicken or fish.  I served it on chicken and my family had no idea that they were eating a salt – free dish.  Try this recipe for chicken:

CHICKEN RECIPE

(Please Note: This recipe is for a family packet of chicken breast that contains between 8 to 12 pieces of chicken)

  • Chicken
  • One 12 ounce bottle Mrs. Dash Teriyaki Marinade or Mrs. Dash Lime Garlic Marinade
  • 1 or 2 finely chopped jalapeno peppers (Depending on how much heat you wish to add to the dish)
  • Olive oil

Take chicken out of package and place in a container.  Thoroughly cover chicken with Mrs. Dash Marinade.  Chop jalapeno peppers finely in a food processor, and sprinkle over to the chicken.  Mix the chopped jalapenos in thoroughly with the chicken and marinade.  Cover container and let refrigerate over night (or at least for six hours).  I have found that letting the chicken marinade for at least 24 hours produces a very flavorful dish that even retains its juices when re-heated for leftovers.

Preheat broiler.  Use a deep pan and lightly cover the bottom with olive oil.  Place marinated chicken in the pan.  Use a spoon to cover chicken with the marinade that contains that the chopped jalapenos.  Place in broiler and cook chicken until done on both sides (Usually 15 to 20 minutes for each side).  Remove from broiler and let cool for three minutes and serve.   Total cooking time – about 35 to 40 minutes.  However, your broiler does the majority of the work!

This dish goes very well with rice.  In the picture above, I serve the chicken with a simple salad that contains low-sodium Swiss Cheese (35 mg. per slice) and two slices of Flora Italian Toast, which has only 25 mg. for four slices.  This is one of my “go to” meals for putting a delicious mid-week dinner on the table.  My family loves this chicken recipe and can’t believe it’s salt free.  Try it and let me know what you think!

AUTHOR’S NOTE:

  • I always use a family pack of chicken breasts (8 to 12 pieces) when I prepare this dish because my household consists of very tall men.  Therefore, I may use half of a second 12 ounce bottle of the Mrs. Dash Marinade and two large jalapeno peppers chopped finely.
